Is being Vegetarian Good for You?

A lot of people think that a vegetarian diet is not good for a person. A vegetarian diet is actually the same, if not better, than a regular omnivore diet. Also being a vegetarian lowers the risk of heart disease a lot more than omnivores. There are many types of vegetarians. There are pescitarians, lacto-vegetarians, ovo-vegetarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian, and vegan.

These are all types of vegetarians and they all qualify in different categories that is dependent on what the person wants to do for their diet. All of the different types of vegetarians all have large beneficial health factors and people still get the same amount of nutrition of people on an omnivore diet. Being a vegetarian lowers blood pressure, lowers rates of hypertension, and lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes. People who are vegetarian also tend to have a lower body mass index, lower the overall cancer rates and lower the risk of chronic disease.
The only thing that vegetarians need to make sure that they are getting the key nutrients that are usually all available in an omnivore diet, and harder to achieve with a vegetarian diet. Vegetarians need to make sure they get proteins, fatty acids, iron, zinc, iodine, calcium, and vitamins D and B-12. It is still accessible for vegetarians to get these nutrients, but they are less abundant in foods. Being a vegetarian has its benefits, but it does have cautions for people to look out for when deciding if they want to start being a vegetarian or what type of vegetarian would best fit for them.
