The article “Humanitarian aid to Afghanistan (BTW) discusses the current situation in Afghanistan and how certain countries plan on assisting Afghans in need. The United Nations has asked the international community for $4.4 billion to assist handle the Afghan issue. This is the greatest amount of help ever sought by the UN for a single country. It also asks for $623 million in relief for the estimated 5.7 million Afghan refugees who have fled to neighboring nations. The Biden administration stated last week that the US will provide $308 million in humanitarian help.
I hope the U.S. is doing this out of the kindness of their heart, but I doubt it. My opinion may be controversial and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but this just seems like an incentive orchestrated by the western world to have the afghan people revolt against the Taliban and resent culture in the eastern hemisphere. This in my opinion is the same incentive that has enabled China to invest in Africa, with hopes of accumulating allies and expanding their political power and influence.
What do you think?
