Global warming is a big issue in today’s society because of all the harm it could cause to earth and impact future generations. Global warming is caused due to heat-trapping pollutants which are greenhouse gases even and it is directly linked to humans. If we can make little changes in our everyday lives it could have a tremendous impact such as if we stop using the lights or electricity in our homes. There are many other ways to help as well, buying only the amount of food you will eat, eating less meat, reducing the amount of water we waste, and by having regular checkups on your car you can save you gas.

This article, it stated, “Approximately 10 percent of U.S. energy use goes into growing, processing, packaging, and shipping food—about 40 percent of which just winds up in the landfill.” This is a quote from an article I read called How to Stop Global Warming. If we stopped wasting and buying as much food we could cut down on the amount to about 6 percent which is a really big step. We also need to be careful of how much water waste we are producing because it takes a lot of energy to pump, heat, and treat our water. The ESA says “that if just one out of every 100 American homes were retrofitted with water-efficient fixtures, about 100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year would be saved—avoiding 80,000 tons of global warming pollution.”. If we simply buy LED light bulbs instead of incandescent bulbs we can decrease the amount of energy we use lighting our rooms.

I think that we can prevent global warming from killing our planet if we take action now it doesn’t matter how little the step might be it still counts for something. If we do nothing to try to slow down global warming of the planet it will be too late to change all the damage it has and will cause in the future. Global warming is caused by humans and no one else so if we change our ways we could completely change the world.

I think it’s awesome that you care about the environment. I have seen the effects of climate change in my home Salt Lake City. In most recent summers, temperatures have been frequently climbing above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, while in the winter average highs are becoming more common in the 40 degrees Fahrenheit level rather than the 30s. The Great Salt Lake has also lost a lot of water due to more frequent and intense droughts. Climate change does represent a significance threat to the Earth’s environment and we must do our best to mitigate our carbon emissions. As a society, we must be more accepting towards a society where electric vehicles and other types of green energy is the norm. This will be a gradual transition so we won’t really notice it too much but eventually I think all of us will be forced. I also think that when humans notice danger and become more fearful, they are more inclined to take action so that is reassuring to me and does make me feel a lot better.
