The question i have is why is gun violence still playing a big role in the number of deaths in the US? I know for a fact that gun violence plays a big roll because it’s so easy to get a gun in the streets especially in neighborhoods in the Bronx. The fact that it’s so easy to get access to a gun makes it a lot easier for young teens my age to get in possession of a gun and then use it to make themselves look hard or tough ; which then leads to gun violence. Certain people should just really not be allowed to be in possession of a gun especially those who have mental disorders which is something they should check into when someone wants to buy a gun.

I would like to know exactly how many people per year are involved with gun violence in the Bronx especially teens around my age. I wanna find out all the statistics about the US as a whole and how guns impact those statistics. I wanna know also how come the US hasn’t made it a lot harder to get guns on the street as well as actually buying a gun at the gun store?

According to statistics street gun violence nationwide makes up 97% of all gun violence and only 3% for school shootings and mass murders which is crazy. The government of the US should fund the program ceasefire to prevent the gun violence. The program picks the most dangerous people in the neighborhood and tells them to give the police station a call so that they can get info on how to prevent themselves from using guns as a means to protect themselves. This would lower the gun rate down making the US a safer place especially places like NY and California.

Dear Adelphe,

I am impressed by your post, “How can gun violence be avoided?” because it’s impressive that many deaths that have been caused have been because of guns. It’s really shocking to see how easy it is to get a gun which continues to cause more violence. This seems like a problem that never ends. People know that guns cause a lot of problems but don’t do anything to prevent it.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is, “I wanna know also how come the US hasn’t made it a lot harder to get guns on the street as well as actually buying a gun at the gun store.” I agree with this sentence 100%, they know this is the main cause for violence in America yet they won’t fix this problem. There is also a rise in teen gun violence because teens can literally get guns so easily, letting anyone buy guns is the real problem, they need to start making rules where only certain people should own guns.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because the information you put on here was really good. It really talks a lot about why gun violence is rising. Topics like these are very important because gun violence should not be as high as it is.

Dear Adelphe,

I am very impressed with your post, “How can gun violence be avoided?” because it is very interesting that you wrote about gun violence and how possessing one is very easy nowadays for teens or anywhere in the U.S. This all occurs in the streets since there is a lot of violence in neighborhoods because of influences that cause it and create more and more until it’s impossible to resolve.

One sentence that stood out to me was, “The government of the US should fund the program ceasefire to prevent the gun violence.” This sentence stood out to me since there should be programs that can help aid and decrease gun violence in schools, neighborhoods, etc. The program is the best idea and there should be various programs that can, as you said, pick the most dangerous people in the neighborhood and tell them to give the police station a call so that they can get info on how to prevent themselves from using guns as a means to protect themselves.

Thank you for your post. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I like the way you have a passion for certain types of topics that are really important to everyone. I would like to know if you think that there can be any other solutions that can help stop gun violence because it should be talked about more and made into a significant importance.

Adelphe, I agree that it should not be as easy as it is to obtain a gun, especially if one is not mentally sound enough to use a gun. I think adding information on why gun regulation is so hard to pass in Congress would dramatically help you argue your point. Adding statistics will only persuade some people, but exposing the truth of why the government is not doing enough will persuade more. This article might help you,

Gun violence and lawmaking is one of the foremost issues that we are facing today. The culture of gun use and violence in the United States is like that of nowhere else in the world. This is an issue that goes far beyond the average citizen and is something that needs to be remedied at the national level. The limitation of gun ownership and use is something that needs to change quickly in America as it is far too easy to obtain a lethal weapon. Like other countries we need to change our requirements of gun ownership or overhaul the system as a whole.

Hi Adelphe, this is Ms. Chapman responding to your article nearly 7 months after you wrote it. Today I was shown this program for the first time, and the question I had about the world was/is : Will the mass shootings ever end? Just yesterday there was yet another mass shooting in Los Angelos- 11- 13 people dead. Horrific…It makes me think that strong legislation is needed to control the availability of weapons. I have so much more to say, but time does’t permit. Take care, and keep developing your writing skills.

Adelphe, I decided to read this article because I wrote a similar one on gun violence. I agree that our government needs to step up and make a change. Do you think that the government should crack down on mental health and preventing mentally unstable people from getting guns or do you think that the government should just ban certain guns all together (for example banning semi-automatic weapons)?

Adelphe, I clicked on this article because the topic of violence interests me. You article felt passionate and I appreciate your opinion and input on this situation. I am extremely curious about the program “Ceasefire” that you mentioned. I am also wondering if you personally live in the Bronx like you mentioned. Is gun violence a specific problem in your own life and do you think that this program will help you and the people you know? Thanks.

Adelphe, your article truly interested me. Within my lifetime the number of school shootings has increased tremendously and we as a society have become desensitized to these traumatic and barbaric events. As a teenager as well it is also mind boggling how people our age can gain access to guns so easily without any background checks. Have you participated in March For Our Lives? It is truly an amazing movement that allows people like us to have a voice and make a difference. Here is the link . Is there an increased amount of violence in the Bronx? If you find more on this topic I would love to read it! Thank you for the information?
