pollution

If you didn’t know already, pollution has affected 90% of the world’s population. The reason I say this is because, we have made and caused our own Pollution.  Pollution comes in 3 different main forms; air, water, land. Air pollutants such as gas powered cars, the exhaust is terrible for the air, environment. Water, because we put plastic in the oceans, lakes, rivers, any body of water “Many water pollutants enter our bodies when we use water for drinking and food preparation.” 2.5% of the earth’s freshwater is unavailable: locked up in glaciers, polar ice caps, atmosphere, and soil; highly polluted; or lies too far under the earth’s surface to be extracted at an affordable cost. Land pollutants; pesticides from farms/factories and all the soil erosion from heavy metals such as mercury, and lead. Trash affects more land and water and is one of the biggest pollutants that affect more than one form of pollution.

I think that by 3000 the earth will be so polluted in some parts it won’t be habitable if we don’t do something about it. I say this because as of right now more than 75% of the world’s land is degraded by pollution. Not everything we do is a positive outcome for earth. “Wind erosion causes topsoil loss on over-used or improperly managed farmland, leading to wide scale land damage around the world.” sometimes even our air polluted earth as shown in the quote. Top 3 countries for the worst types of pollution are, Air: Pakistan, Mongolia, Bangladesh (US is ranked 84th). Water: Qatar, Israel, Lebanon (US ranked 90th). Land: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan (US ranked 24th).

As these countries that I mentioned have the worst pollution some of the countries don’t always get it from themselves such as, the top 2 countries to produce pollution are China and America. With China’s pollution now, 1.24 million people have died from exposure to the polluted air per year. As for the US, 10 million a year die from pollution exposure. In conclusion pollution, it’s only a matter of time before the entire world is polluted. So, as everyday we try to deplete the pollution and pollution production.

I completely agree with you about how we have created our own pollution and that it is our fault that the world is suffering. It is insane to think about how much pollution comes just from America. Certain parts of the U.S. have air qualities that are suffering because of how much pollution we are creating. I was shocked when you mentioned that more than 75% of the world’s land is degraded and how 2.3% of its freshwater is unavailable. It makes me very worried to think about how bad pollution will possibly be in the next 10 to 15 years and how many people will die because of it.
