| In the article “ Gun Violence in America: A true national security threat.” (Brookings 19AD) I learned that Gun violence has become one of the top five most worrying problems in the United States. In addition, this article mentions that this not only affects our nation but the entire world. This is because the government continues to create weapons for wars, for personal protection, and the armed forces that are to protect the country when needed. However, this affects the society in which we live since there are people who misuse them and have committed horrible crimes. This is a problem that must be resolved as soon as possible to avoid more crimes and accidents due to weapons. Without a doubt, this is not only a problem for society but also for the government, which until now, as mentioned by the author, has not done anything to change it. In my opinion, what is happening with the lack of control over the use of weapons is that there is no law that requires that people who want to obtain a weapon must go through a very strict check of their entire background. In order to be able to define if you are capable of carrying a weapon and making no use of it and only using it for self-protection. As I continue learning about gun violence, I want to know more about what citizens we can do to have a better nation with freedom but not worry about anything. |
