In the article “Gun Violence Among Serious Young Offenders” (Braga) I learned that lower-income communities are being targeted the most especially the groups affiliated and teenagers are the ones mainly being concentrated on. This situation is affecting our society and needs to be put to an end, Criminal misuse of guns kills or injures tens of thousands of Americans every year. This violence imposes a heavy burden on our standard of living, not only on groups that have the highest victimization rates but also on the community at large. By one estimate, this burden amounts to $80 billion per year.
I think that this situation is out of hand and someone needs to put an end to it, I also believe that the government is somewhat on it by removing the lower class community so they can stop providing for them. I think it’s weird that even those lower-class communities and our kids are still being concentrated on even if they aren’t in a group or criminally active groups.
As I continue to learn about gun violence and the effect it has on our youth I want to better understand the motive and why our kids are being killed.
