In the article “Gun Control Explained” by Max Fisher, the central idea is to inform what gun control is and the effect it has. In support of their central idea, the author writes “ gun control — a term used to describe a wide range of restrictions and measures aimed at controlling the use of firearms “. This supports the central idea because It defines what gun control is. The author also writes “Throughout the world, mass shootings have frequently been met with a common response: Officials impose new restrictions on gun ownership. Mass shootings become rarer. Homicides and suicides tend to decrease, too”. This supports their central idea because it demonstrates the effect gun control has and that it decreases the crime of mass shootings and suicides. A final piece of evidence that supports their central idea is when the author writes “Much of current federal gun control legislation is a baseline, governing who can buy, sell and use certain classes of firearms, with states left free to enact additional restrictions”. This supports the central idea because It talks about one type of gun control that can be established.

When I read this article it enlighten me of what truly gun control is. It was cool to know that there are different forms of gun control. It was also fascinating to see another place that faced the same problem as America be resolved with gun control.

As I continue to learn more about Gun control the more it leads to me being curious if gun control really is the solution to gun violence and if there is a way to implement it without it violating our 2nd Amendment to bear arms allowing a satisfying conclusion to both sides that where against or for gun control.
