In today’s world, we see a lot of bad happening every day, and it’s hard to keep a positive mindset when that’s all we see on the news. Instead of saying what’s bad in the world, here is what’s good. Peter Mutabazi is a foster parent and has been creating safe homes for children since 2017. This is especially important because he continued to take in children during the entirety of the pandemic.
Two teachers at an elementary school in Atlanta went viral for a video of them welcoming their fourth-grade students into their class with a mirror and positive affirmations, such as “I am Smart!” and “I am a good person!” This is the kind of environment that all kids want when they go to school, especially with all different kinds of backgrounds, all children need to know that there is a safe place for them at school.
Brecklyn, Thank you for sharing this truly inspiring story. Positive affirmations in classrooms is truly an underestimated tool. Quotes such as ‘ ” I am smart”, and “I am a good person” ” are some of the most simple things that can be said but have the most lasting impact. Experiencing positive affirmations can really improve my day no matter how bad it is. Your overall message of this passage is one that definitely needs to be more widely shared!
Dear Brecklyn, I am moved by your post, “Good in the World” because I feel this message is extremely important. I agree with you that the majority of the things we see these days is a lot of negativity in the world and not enough good.
One sentence that really stands out to me is where you mention, “Two teachers at an elementary school in Atlanta went viral for a video of them welcoming their fourth-grade students into their class with a mirror and positive affirmations…” I think this is an amazing thing because many times especially as children, we believe anything are told. For the teachers to be making even these minor practices with the children can really change the way they view themselves and really boost their confidence, no matter the kind of day they are having.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because your posts shed light on the important things that are going on in the world which no one seems to notice. Posts like this one allows individuals to inform themselves on what is going on and the different ways in which we can help make a difference.

Brecklyn, I really identify with this post. I find that positive motivation can be an encouraging factor to me just like the kids at school, “Two teachers at an elementary school in Atlanta went viral for a video of them welcoming their fourth-grade students into their class with a mirror and positive affirmations, such as ‘I am Smart!’ and ‘I am a good person!” Personally these quotes would motivate me to be a higher achiever in school. When I experience positive motivation from teachers or my coaches I find that I have a higher drive to achieve. I hope to have a further conversation with you about how positivity can affect a life. Those who have good attitudes get further, this is why our school does mindfulness every morning. I encourage you to read this article about positivity.

Dear Brecklyn,
I am impressed by your post, ¨Good in the world¨ because it is impressive how these elementary teachers came up with this brilliant idea to make these kids feel good about themselves. I think it´s impressive how the teachers care about making their young students feel safe with them and being at school.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: ¨Peter Mutabazi is a foster parent and has been creating safe homes for children since 2017. I think this is awesome because all children deserve to feel safe at home and with the people surrounding them.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I like how you write about some of the good things that do occur in the world. I would like you to continue writing about the good in the world.

Amazing message. People need to put in more effort and commitment to do good in the world. It truly takes one person to start the movement of goodness in the world. More people need to just follow in their leads. The more people we have like Peter, the more good the world will be.
This story is really sweet! I wish more teachers/people took the little bit of effort to commit to something like this because like you said it really can make a positive difference in the environment.
I wish growing up in younger classes we were able to experience this, and although we come from different backgrounds, its always important to have positivity in our lives, especially at a young age.
I am happy that someone is showing us the good in the world when there is so much stress. i hope more people see this post
I agree with you when you say that the news sheds light on important news more negatively. The foster parent you were talking about is a good person who even during a pandemic choose to help and shelter orphans. The world could definitely use more people like that. As for the second topic you mentioned, I think it’s great how teachers are trying to welcome their kids back on the first day of school using those positive affirmations. It make the classroom a fun and positive learning environment for those kids.
Dear Walter, I am impressed by your post ” Good in the World” because I also believe that we must recognize the good instead of the bad. I also agree with you how the foster parent was being amazing by creating safe homes for children. It’s great to hear that they are still great people out in our world. It is super important that every child is in a safe and happy home.
One sentence you wrote that stood out to me was ” I think it’s great how teachers are trying to welcome their kids back on the first day of school using those positive affirmations.” This is stood out to me for the reason that is great how children are being positively encouraged and shown that they matter. I believe all teachers should do this. Because we never know what students may be going through. It is also great to know that they are in a safe and healthy environment. School should be the place they look forward to learning new things and having fun.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I like how you believe the good should be shined and brought out instead of the negativity.

Dear Brecklyn
I am touched by your post ” Good in the World” because I didn’t know that someone like Peter existed. He is a true hero for creating safe homes for foster children, it must have been really tough when the pandemic started so I wish him good health. I hope he continues to help those in need, the world needs more people like him.
” Two teachers at an elementary school in Atlanta went viral for a video of them welcoming their fourth-grade students into their class with a mirror and positive affirmations . . . ” this stood out to me because I have seen the viral video and it was so heartwarming the teachers are really amazing for that. We need more teachers like them to keep kids and themselves inspired !
Thank you for your writing I hope many people read this post and know that there are many good people in this world. I can’t wait to see what you write next !
