This is who I am

I’m Cristin Jarlin Tolentino. What’s important to know about me is that I hate drama , I love dancing , cleaning , cooking, I love shopping and also taking pics. That is why I want to become a photographer. One more thing is traveling. The ethinc and cultural heritage in my family is Dominican. This means that I have Spanish,Taino and African heritage. I was born in the United States of America in the Bronx, NYC. The neighborhood where I used to live is Kingsbridge .  Schools I have been to are P.S..46, TEAM 254, Clinton High School and now PULSE High School. I don’t really have anything important that happens to me.

What I like to do in school is go to each of my classes until school is over because that is what I like to do mostly. And with extra curricular activities dancing, craft, music, yoga, photography. What I am good at in school is listening, speaking, and doing my work. I prefer to do my academic work on paper since I hate doing it online. What I enjoy doing outside is being on my phone and going right to bed and falling asleep . What I am good at is reassuring myself, how I got good at is making myself available to them. The show I watched when I was little was Dora the explorer. I was obsessed with her. I enjoyed learning Spanish and exploring.

Well the MOST important people in my life are my mom, grandma, dad, sister and brother, aunt and uncle, but the ones who are precious to me the most are the two strongest women: my mom and grandmother. They work hard to make sure we all have food on our table and put a roof over our head especially as Latina women. We see them struggle and do this for us and show us how independent they are. So I am very lucky to have them in my life even if we have our ups and downs. They are the ones who keep pushing me to keep on with my career and education in school.

Dear cristin :

I am interested in  “ GET TO KNOW ME,” because I found it so interesting how you were able to open up with us and I loved how you are giving a lot of details talking about your past and your family.
In one sentence you wrote, “ So I am very lucky to have them in my life even if we have our ups and downs.” I think this is awesome because I could relate to this in the way that my mother is always there for me.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because people need to hire more of your stories

Dear Cristin,
I am intrigued by your post, “THIS IS WHO I AM” because of the fact that we have a lot in common. SOme of these things include not liking drama, taking pictures aka photography, love doing my school work on paper instead of online, and more. The one I feel like we’d have more a connection on is photography because that is also a small passion of mine that i would like to pursue one day.

One sentence that stood out ot me was,”They work hard to make sure we all have food on our table and put a roof over our head especially as Latina women. We see them struggle and do this for us and show us how independent they are”. I think this is amazing because as someone who is hispanic, I also have a mother who does everything even things that was meant for “men” to do. This just shows that women are stronger then what people think and that we are more then capable of doing what “men” do on our own.

Thank you for writing. I look forward to see what you write next, because I love the way you express what you are thinking. Not only that but because of the way you describe your life to us.

Dear Cristin:

I am touched by your post, “GET TO KNOW ME,” because I found it interesting how you were able to be open with us and describe the various aspects of your life. Apart from that, I enjoyed how you explained your continuous passion for photography. Personally, I have taken a video production class and I would say that using a camera is very enjoyable and entertaining.

One sentence you wrote that stood out to me is: “They work hard to make sure we all have food on our table and put a roof over our head especially as Latina women. We see them struggle and do this for us and show us how independent they are. So I am very lucky to have them in my life even if we have our ups and downs.” I think this is awesome because I could relate to this in the way that my mother came to the United States from a young age for the better of herself and us. For this reason, just like you, I appreciate their efforts which is why I try to do my best at everything that comes my way to demonstrate that it was worth it.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to reading what you write next because I enjoyed the way you described your life with us. I would like you to continue telling me about who you are and what inspires you.

Dear Cristin, I am intrigued by your post, “GET TO KNOW ME” because I know that some people here where I am from have experienced similar things as you. I also enjoyed reading the part where you said you want to become a photographer and how your family keeps on pushing you to achieve that goal.

One sentence that stood out to me was, “They work hard to make sure we all have food on the table and put a roof over our head”. I liked that you acknowledged those who worked hard for you to make a good living because I think that those people should be known, personally for me, my grandparents made the decision to move to the U.S so that my dad and his brothers could make a living and now me and my cousins/siblings are doing the best we can to make sure we make the best of what they gave us through their sacrifices.

Thank you for writing. I look forward to hearing more about what goes on in your life, and good luck with everything you look to accomplish.

Dear Cristin, I am impressed by your post “Get To Know Me” because I get to read about what you do for a living. I like how you are talking about your past and your family.
In one sentence you wrote, “Well the MOST important people in my life are my mom, grandma, dad, sister and brother, aunt and uncle, but the ones who are precious to me the most are the two strongest women: my mom and grandmother.” I think is wonderful you saying that because they did everything for you and your family to have food and a roof over your head that is called a home.
Thanks for writing. I look forward to seeing what you are writing next because I like how you talked about your family and your hobbies. I would like you to continue writing about yourself.

Dear Cristin, I am amazed about your post “This is who I am” because I am amazed about everything you do on a daily basis whether it is just you or with family. I like how you constantly like learning things and talking about your past as well.

One sentence that you wrote that stands out to me is: “I am so lucky to have them in my life…they are the ones who kept pushing me to keep up with my career” School seems really important to you by the way you learn, which is by listening, speaking, and doing your work. With that, you mention how your mom and grandmother are there to support and care for you the most.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to hearing more about your life. I like the comparisons you have with your own life and life at school.

I am surprised by your post, “GET TO KNOW ME,” because it’s interesting to know people, and you sound interesting. I love traveling because I like to know new places, that’s something that makes me read your post.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “but the ones who are precious to me the most are the two strongest women: my mom and grandmother.” I think this is lovely because it’s the same for me. They are the most important people in my life.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because it was interesting to have the same connections. And I like to learn new things from other cultures.
