Ever heard a thump in the night or a tap on your window, maybe it’s just your imagination, but what if it’s not? All of the sudden your window shade starts to open by itself and on the other side you see a ghostly figure of a woman in white. Immediately you jump out of bed to find yourself covered sweat, “Oh thank God it was just a dream,”. Then out of the corner of your eye, you see the end of a white dress trailing outside your bedroom door. Was it really your imagination?

For years I’ve wondered if we live in a multidimensional world, in which we are really not alone in the house when our Mom goes to get groceries, or if you’re not really crazy when you swore you heard something go bump in the night. As a child, ghost stories have always fascinated me- but what has caught my attention, even more, is mediumship- how there could be possible communication to the other side. Why was that woman in white there? So I decided to research it and here’s what I found.

According to this website, the practice of mediumship has been around for centuries, but only really became popular in the 1800s. There are two different types of mediums: those who mainly use their “mental” and those who use their “physical” to communicate with the dead. It was claimed that certain physical mediums could even produce ectoplasm- an energy created by physical mediums that were believed to encase a spirit inside. Mental mediums are those who can communicate with the spirit world by sensing or seeing spirits or symbols. Unfortunately, because this form of practice became popular in the 1800s, there were many frauds, who claimed they were capable of the practice but just did it for the money, leaving the real mediums to shame.

Mae, I thought your article was very intriguing. I have also always wondered if we live in a multidimensional world. I’ve never thought about it in a way that there could be another world that is within ours though. I have always thought about if there was another universe beyond ours. What do you think? Do you think that there is a world within ours that we can’t see? Or do you think there are multiple universes beyond ours? In this article (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/crux/2014/12/04/multidimensional-universe/#.WchrC0yZO9Y) it talked a lot about time travel, a 4th dimension, and transversal wormholes. It was a very interesting read and has a lot of connections to what you wrote about above. I’d be interested to see if you find more information on this topic and if you do I will definitely read it! Good response!
