I was standing in goal ready for anything,
It was my first time starting in goal in the
Regional final game, I was fifteen
I was commanding the defense when the first
Forward broke through with the ball I went at
Him ready for the shot, fifteen.
I made the first save feeling very proud of what
I just did becoming more confident fifteen
It was the final minutes of the game they were
Running down the field at us I stood in the goal
Ready for the shot, fifteen
They shoot the ball it was a rocket to the bottom
Corner I dive to make the the save just barely
Getting my fingertips to the ball and pushing the
Ball wide of the goal mouth to send the game to
Penalties, fifteen
We ended up winning the game in penalties
And I stood there proud of what our team just
Accomplished, fifteen
Hi Andre
I really enjoyed reading your poem. I too am a soccer goalie. When reading the poem I remember many times when I was in a game that was close or a game that was very important. My dad has this saying that as a goalie you’re either the hero or the on who let everyone down. Which is very true. Do you ever feel like you have let the team down? I know I have. Great poem!
