Costa Rica has rainforests, beaches, volcanos, wetlands, caves, and incredible biodiversity and is, therefore, one of the most popular ecotourism locations. The government takes some actions to ensure that the ecotourism there is actually eco-friendly. For example, some national parks limit how many visitors they can have at a time or require certifications for sustainable practices. There are other measures taken too, including using fees received from ecotourism to conserve and maintain the areas, educating people on how to live sustainable lives, and offering sustainable living with sustainable food. They also point many visitors to visit rural areas instead of going to the most popular parks. This spreads out the impact visitors have on the parks, therefore making them easier to conserve.
