Alcohol is a substance that reduces the function of the brain, thinking, and making reasonable decisions. All these abilities are essential to operating a vehicle safely and if this ability is taken away it can have risks. Drinking and driving are hazardous to do, every day about 32 people in the U.S. die in drunk-driving crashes. I feel like not that many people take it seriously because it keeps on happening and rapidly. About 30% of traffic crash fatalities in the U.S. are due to drinking and driving. On average over the 10-year period from 2011-2022, about 10,500 people died every year from it.
How do you think we might reduce accidents from alcohol abuse?People need to take this more seriously because it could end up happening to them, it can happen anytime anywhere. People need to see that it affects lots of people and their families and should try having someone who is sober drive. This way it can reduce more accidents like this from happening.
Dear Edith,
Your piece on “Drinking and driving” piqued my interest because it touches on a subject that I believe is not often discussed. Drinking and driving has long been a concern and still is today. I believe that in order to lower the rate, more has to be done to address this issue.
I particularly enjoy the following statement you made: “I feel like not too many people take it seriously because it continues happening and is happening quickly.” This is because I believe that few individuals are aware of the risks associated with driving after drinking. Additionally, I believe that many do not consider the potentially fatal effects of drinking and driving.
I appreciate your writing. This is a subject that requires more discussion, so I’m interested to see what you have to say next. More awareness of this issue will help individuals understand the risks associated with drunk driving.

Dear Edith
I am interested in your post, “Drinking and driving,” because most people you catch drinking and driving are unfortunately the youth. Averaging from ages 21-25, the youth are most likely to drink and drive.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Drinking and driving are hazardous to do, every day about 32 people in the U.S. die in drunk-driving crashes.” I believe this is important because that is equivalent to 11,368 deaths caused by drunk driving. I doubt people know about this fact
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because this was really interesting to get into especially now that we see more young people drive.

Dear Edith,
I am intrigued by your post, “Drinking and driving” because it addresses a topic that I feel is not really talked about. Drinking and driving has been a problem for a very long time and continues to be, and I feel like it needs to be addressed more in order for the rate to be reduced.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “I feel like not that many people take it seriously because it keeps on happening and rapidly.” I think that this is true because not many people know how dangerous drinking and driving can be. I also feel like people don’t think about the consequences that drinking and driving has, which can include death.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because this is a topic that needs to be addressed more. By bringing more awareness to this topic, people will be able to recognize the dangers of drunk driving.

Dear Edith,
I am impressed with your post, “Drinking and Driving” because I think that drinking and driving is something that is very dangerous not just for the person drinking and driving but also for the people on the road as well. Drinking and driving should be something that should not be allowed because there are many people having accidents and dying from it.

Dear Edith,
I agree with your post about drinking and driving as they are an increase of deaths from car accidents around the world which affects people as many loved ones died early because of this. as many drunk drivers don’t know their limit of drinking or question how will they get home while being intoxicated,
One sentence that stood out the most to me was when you talked about “On average over the 10-year period from 2011-2022, about 10,500 people died every year” from it. this text that was stated shocked me as I didn’t believe there would be that much of accidents of drunk drivers killing people. which is sad to see as the numbers are probably increasing the moment I speak.
Question? well from what I heard of cars were designing cars to make it where it can detect your breath if you have been drinking which is very smart as it can prevent many car accidents with drunk drivers in the future.
Thank your for writing this post as you explained a lot about drunk driver which was very useful as you explained the main topic really well, so thank you!
Dear Edith,
I totally agree with your post ” Drinking and driving” because people don’t understand how effectively this affects the world, people die because of this, and that is not okay people die because of someone’s fault, no one should have to go through this, just because someone wants to have fun this is very dangerous. Many drunk people have killed innocents.
One sentence that stood out to me was, “On average over the 10-year period from 2011-2022, about 10,500 people died every year from it.” Causing deaths, which is very sad to even hear about people who could’ve been family friend members. This type of thing should not have happened at all, People who drink and drive should be sent to jail with no warning asked, many lives are taken and there’s nothing happening the average of this happening is this going on, there should be a stop to this.
Thank you for writing, I look forward to hearing from you just because this post was very interesting, which caught my eye with the image, you used for the cover because I immediately knew what you were going to talk about this topic should be more out there so everyone should know read about know the causes.
Dear Edith,
Your post is very appealing to me because you make a lot of good points about what’s going on in today’s world, and have it’s having a huge negative impact on people. Drunk driving is a very important issue to discuss about because of the thousands of people that die every year because of this. Drunk driving has also put others in danger that has also killed innocents because of this.
One thing that you mentioned in your post that stood out to me is, “ I feel like not that many people take it seriously because it keeps on happening rapidly.” This is very important to talk about because these people that drink and drive believe that it’s a positive thing to do because it gives them good confidence which is very untrue. I believe that in order to reduce drinking and driving, there should be special programs to help comeback this issue.
Thank you for talking about this topic, it is a very important issue to discuss about. This issue can not only kill the drunk driver but others as well. This is very helpful for everyone to really talk about the problems that have caused many consequences, It also helps spread awareness.
Dear Edith
I am very fascinated by your post, “Drinking and Driving” The image you chose to use is so simple yet super understandable, so I immediately knew what this post was gonna be about. Not only that however, but I also was curious as to what you had to say about drinking and driving, many peoples lives are put in danger when a person decides to drive while under the influence, and I see you can lean toward that side as well.
One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is “about 30% of traffic crash fatalities in the U.S are due to drinking and driving”. This stood out to me because 30% is a very high amount when talking about fatalities. I believe that there should be higher restrictions when driving. and if luckily these people get pulled over while caught under the influence the punishment be worse.
Thank you for writing, I look forward to hearing what you have to write about next, simply because this was a very interesting post that I was easily able to read through.

Dear Edith,
I am intrigued by your post, “Drinking and Driving,” because this is a topic that unfortunately takes a lot of lives and affects a lot of families here in the United States. Drunk driving is very selfish in my opinion. I think people are well aware that drinking and driving is not safe but they choose to do so anyways and unfortunately it causes destruction or death in some capacity. I do think that there are people who should receive help if they have a drinking issue for their own safety and for others.
One sentence that you wrote that stands out to me is when you said “on average over the 10-year period from 2011-2022, about 10,500 people died every year from it.” I think this is very saddening because it is tragic to think that over 10,000 people lose their lives annually to drunk driving. This statistic should make others, even if they’re not drunk driving, be cautious of other drivers on our roads.
Thank you for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because these are the kind of topics that should require further attention because of the frequency it occurs. I appreciate how your post also coud be used to spread awareness for the sake of the lives of others.

Dear Edith,
I am intrigued by your post regarding drunk driving your post, “Drinking and driving,” because it is saddening to see the tragedies drunk driving brings. It is clear that drunk driving has caused injuries, collisions, and even death. This is impacting because many know the risk of drinking and driving yet they continue to put themselves and others at risk.
One sentence that stands out to me is, “Drinking and driving are hazardous to do, every day about 32 people in the U.S. die in drunk-driving crashes.” I think this is important to know because 32 people lose their lives in a day imagine how many deaths it rounds up to in a year. To me, this is discouraging to see because of the aftermath post-accident. It surprises me how forgetful these drunk drivers are about the lives of others or how negatively they can affect the lives of their families if they never get to see them again.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because topics like these are what people need to pay more attention to. It can reduce drunk driving and possible fatalities. Changes like stopping drunk drivers can make an environment adequate for all human beings without putting them at risk.

Dear Edith, I was very interested in the issue that is very common to see on the news and one of the worst things I believe society or the government doesn’t fix is banning alcohol or limiting drinks.
What stood out for me was the death toll which was over 10000 which scared me because those are people with families dying for a bad decision that could have easily been fixed.
Thanks for writing Edith I can’t wait to read more.
Julio,
I think your belief that our government should ban/limit alcohol is controversial, but I completely agree. If I’m in the U.S. government I take a look at the number of deaths related to alcohol abuse or consumption, which is a very high number, and take away the cause of the issue, alcohol. Personally, I do not think alcohol is a beneficial consumable product as it does not serve any benefits to people in any way. I think the argument that “oh well alcohol is used to have fun at parties” is completely irrelevant. I l believe an adult human that is of 21 years or older should have the common sense and logic to know that alcohol is a harmful substance that does not have any benefits. It is a dangerous and sometimes fatal substance that should be banned in our nation. Imagine how many lives a year would be saved in the United States if we just banned alcohol in its entirety.
Your comment should be archived,

Dear Edith, I’m very fawned of post on drinking and driving because this is a significant issue in today’s society a lot of victims have either died or been seriously injured due to drunk driving.
what stood out to me the most in your post was how you mentioned ¨ on average the 10-year period 2011-2022 about 10,500 died every year from it¨ this stood out to me the most because this is a sad number how many people lost their lives due to drinking and driving and how it could’ve been avoided if they just called a cab or didn’t drive at all.
Thank you for your writing Edith I look forward to other posts you have in store.
Very much facts.
