Over the past 24 hours…

I’m wondering how to consult with a student about her writing. We edit and suggest in the margins on Google Docs or on NowComment, but how do we have those moments where we ask a student to say more to explain what you mean by that or tell me a story about that. Then turn and say, okay now put that into your writing. I’ll try it with comments on NowComment, but it feel so distant, separated, disconnected in time and place… get what I mean? And I’m not sure that a one-on-one video call would work either, but maybe.
