Have you ever “snitched,” or told on someone else for breaking a rule? How did you weigh your relationship to that person, the trustworthiness of the authority and the legitimacy of the rule?

I don’t know. When you are snitching you are going to an authority to inform on your peer. In my life as a teacher, my peer relationships have always been more important to me than the ones I’ve had with the powers that be. So I think my answer has to be “No, I’ve never snitched.” Really, though? I mean I’m thinking and thinking, maybe when I was younger, maybe something small like getting a parking space? I don’t know. How about in my family? Did I ever tell on my brothers? I don’t think so. But I must just not remember. The only time I can imagine this is if it brought me some advantage, not because I cared about a rule. Just saying.
