In the article, “The Reasons for Abortion” (Nichols 2022) I learned many people have their personal reasons as to why they go through an abortion, whether they’re reasonable or not. Mothers go through financial, physical, and emotional problems when having kids. They either choose to go through with it or not, in some cases, it’s life or death. Mothers have to choose what they want, in other cases it’s all because they are struggling financially. Some mothers have gone through an abortion because they felt they needed to focus on their other children more so they went through an abortion.
I think choosing to kill your baby because you need to “focus” on your other children is really dumb and selfish. Whereas being ill, such as with cancer is so much more reasonable. If it’s life-threatening where the mother can lose her life while carrying the baby it’s understandable but could still be a difficult decision for mothers. A fetal anomaly can be detected early and later in pregnancy, some of these anomalies can be fatal, meaning the fetus will die shortly before or after birth. Mothers choose to go through an abortion, my opinion on this is so that they don’t get attached after birthing and then later have to face the fact that they have so little to live.
As I continue to learn about abortion, I want to know how victims of rape handle their situation if they get pregnant from their attacker.
