In the article “Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos” OCT 11,

2022 ORIGINAL: OCT 30, 2018

has stated that it’s on the 1st of November. Why do we celebrate it? to remember those that have died and remember them with stories, books, and papel picado referred to cut paper. We would want to introduce those because they are important to us. It was when the Aztecs had known about the dead community in Mexico and celebrated it in a big community. As we know this is a way of tragedy for our loved ones. Go back some 3,000 years, to the rituals honoring the dead in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.

This inspired the contemporary Day of the Dead practice in which people leave food or other offerings on their loved ones’ graves, or set them out on makeshift altars called ofrendas in their homes. The European countries have known their loved ones from souls. You may see that Spanish conquistadores brought such traditions with them to the New World

Dear Diana,

I am stoked by your post, “Day of the Dead,” because it talks about the history of how and why the Day of the Dead is celebrated. In many places, the Day of the Dead is a celebration that is still celebrated nowadays to remember loved ones that are no longer with us.

One sentence you wrote that stands out is “You may see that Spanish conquistadores brought such traditions with them to the New World.” I think this is really shocking because I have always thought that the Dia De Los Muertos originated in Mexico. I never really thought that the Spanish Conquistadores were the ones who brought this tradition over from their country.

Thanks for writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I now know where the Day of the Dead originated. It’s also really helpful to know and find out more about the traditions that are celebrated and their history.

Dear Diana,

I was appealed by your post “Day of the Dead” because it talks about an annual holiday that just happened a few days ago. Day of the dead or dia de Los Muertos is still a topic that is fresh on my mind due to recency.

One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is “you may see that Spanish conquistadores brought such traditions with them to the New World.” This is surprising to me because I did not know that this particular celebration came from Spain as I always thought it originated in Mexico.

Thank you for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I learned something new which helps expand my knowledge. I also was interested in the fact that you talked about something that is big in Hispanic culture which I am sure a lot of us can relate to.

Dear Diana,

I am amazed by your post, “Day of the Dead”, because you include the past history of the day of the dead. Also, you include the common things that are done when celebrating the day of the dead.

One sentence you wrote that stood out to me is, “You may see that Spanish conquistadores brought such traditions with them to the New World”. I find this surprising because I had no absolute idea that this tradition became a thing in Mexico due to the Spanish conquistadores. I thought that it was originally from Mexico and only Mexico.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because you have taught me some new information. I wonder what else you might bring to the table that will make me learn something different and can leave me amazed.

Sincerely,
Yaritzi Torres

Yaritzi,

I am appealed by your comment because of the similarity it shares with mine. I see that the sentence that stood out to you was the same one it stood out to me and it is good to see others share the same analysis of the post as mine. I also did not know that Day of the Dead came from the culture in Spain and not originally from Mexico so we also had that in common as well. I found that surprising because when I see or learn something about day of the dead, it is always represented in Mexican culture, so all in all I think I was just as surprised as you were.

Dear Diana:

I am impressed by your post,” Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos),” because it is a very important holiday to celebrate. It is important to celebrate because it introduces our loved ones.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “We would want to introduce those because they are important to us. It was when the Aztecs had known about the dead community in Mexico and celebrated it in a big community.” I think this is important because there were people before Hispanic people who created this holiday.

Thank you for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because this holiday is very important to the Hispanic community, as ofrendas can remember loved ones. I would like you to create more posts like this about the Hispanic community in the future.
