I read the article “Cross-training Dangers” by Rick Lovett which talked about how cross-training can actually be a danger and hinder your ability to perform in your primary sport. When an athlete jumps into a new sport, they often don’t have the correct equipment to effectively participate in it, and these poor pieces of equipment can be dangerous and cause injuries. If you don’t have the most up-to-date stuff, you can get hurt. Another way crosstraining can be bad is while doing different activities to give your body a break, it puts stress on different body systems that you haven’t strengthened as effectively. These weaker muscle groups can get hurt when they are put under this new stress. With new sports comes new movements that you aren’t used to which can also cause injury.
