Although this happened in January, I didn’t hear about it until recently and you may have not either. Utah officially became the 19th state in the US to ban conversion therapy for minors. Several other states and smaller regions within states have also been making moves toward bills that will ban conversion therapy. Two of these states include Oklahoma and Virginia who banned it in February and March respectively.

This New York Times article gives more details about efforts being made nationwide. While it has been banned for minors, it is still legal for adults. However, we are still getting closer to ending conversion therapy in the US.  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/12/opinion/red-state-conversion-therapy.html

While I’m super happy with the ban on Conversion Therapy on minors, I’m still curious why the Federal government hasn’t stepped in thus far. I looked into it and saw that a couple problems arise constitutionally: https://www.collegesoflaw.edu/blog/2020/05/27/the-constitutionality-of-conversion-therapy-bans/?_page=3 but I’m interested where you stand on this. Do you think it’s the right of the federal government to ban a practice so horrible?
