In this text the central idea is that there are cons regarding abortion.  In support of their central idea, the author writes “We cannot solve the problem of injustice against women with more injustice. We need solutions that support women without killing fetuses.”  This supports the central idea because it introduces that problem of abortion. The problem being that abortion kills abortion.  The author also writes, “Historically, abortion was a popular means of birth control and family planning due to a lack of reliable contraception, education, and other resources, and the fact that childbirth was incredibly dangerous.” This supports their central idea because it explains that abortion has become a problem with the lack of awareness of sex education. Young adults need to know the circumstances and consequences of their actions.  A final piece of evidence that supports their central idea is when the author writes “ Life begins at conception, making abortion murder. Conception is the moment a sperm cell fertilizes an egg cell, which begins the process of cell division that creates a human.” This supports the central idea because abortion is considered murder. When a woman goes through with an abortion it would mean they are killing their baby. Overall, these cons help identify the effects of an abortion and it should be taken into consideration.

The cons support the argument that abortion can be prevented and should not be an option. What stood out to me was that “In the United States each year, about half of pregnancies are unintended and about 40% of those lead to abortion. Access to birth control leads to fewer abortions.” This shows that one problem is the access to birth control. A solution would be allowing availability for more birth control. With the access for birth control, it will help decrease abortion rates and lives. Although these are important I still believe abortion should be legal because no matter what it is the mother’s decision. It is a woman’s body that no one has control over.

As I continue to learn about abortion, I would like to know about the women’s rights and Women who have experienced an abortion.
