the season of oranges
i smell the scent of clementines
and i see a window of white
and all of this brought together
reminds me of a childhood
filled with hot cocoa dreams
and cringy movies beyond
imagination and i wait for
the season of oranges all year
remembering its origin and
peel away my anticipation
In the style of Nikki Giovanni’s “winter poem”
This is really cool, I like what you did with the formatting and enjambment. I think it could be cool if you abstract the ideas a little more, maybe describe each one more in depth. Great job and I hope to read more from you soon!

Lilly, I really like the imagery you used in this poem. I also like that your poem is based on another one, but with a personal twist. The tone is light and nostalgic, and I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks for your writing and I hope to read more of it in the future!
I like this poem it has a nice mood that really comes across in a good way. The tone is well encapsulated in all the words. I do think you should capitalize your I’s however.
I love your poem, when you talk about the smell of clementines and what it reminds you of I thought the same thing, my favorite part is the two lines “..the season of oranges all year remembering its origin…”. the rhythm is really good and thoughtful.
I really like this poem! The style is not only nostalgic but the imagery makes me see what you were imagining. Overall, this is a unique poem, love it!
I love your poem, Lily! Your poem is relatable to readers since many people have had the great experience of enjoying a tangy orange on a cold, winter day. You’re right; I associate oranges with winter more than summer because for some reason, our house always has clementines in the winter.
The imagery is awesome! You can feel the longingness in your words even with such a short poem
I like your alliterations. I like the descriptive terms like windows of white and peel away my anticipation. I think they give nice imagery.
