In november of last year a bill was passed by biden, this bill included a demand for car makers to include a drunk driving prevention system. Car companies like BMW and Nissan have already started installing these devices. More of these systems could begin to be installed into care as soon as 2026. This new car system could be like the breathalyzer cars in which you have to blow into to start the car and every so often after this. These cars might also have a video system that monitors the driver’s action and can pull to the side of the road and stop if it believes you are drunk driving.

I feel that this is an amazing idea and would love to see this implemented into cars in the future. I also feel that if this were to work it would save millions of lives, more specifically “ the widespread use of this technology could reduce roadway deaths by about 9,400 people per year” this in itself is an amazing reason to implement this. Yes there is a doubt in these cars some of which being “It will take years for this technology to become widespread enough to make any difference. Congress has given the NHTSA three years to finalize rules for the technology, and automakers an additional two years to install it.” But companies are taking time to advance this technology and the earliest they will be out is 2026. I think that maybe not today or tmr but some time in the future this would be an amazing advancement in technology That i would love to see be a part of everyday life! What do you think about this new idea for a car?
