In the article, “Life Without DACA” (Upfront, Jordan, 2022 subscription required) I learned that DACA is for people who were brought to the US illegally for example kids by their parents. I also learned that out of 800,000 people who registered, only 100,000 made it. It also mentions that it allows them to work legally. Apparently Trump tried to remove it in 2017 and I think it has been removed.
What do you think about DACA?In my truthfully honest and humble opinion on this, I believe that DACA should still be here. I believe that it helps many students out and offers them a lot of protection. To some it even is the reason that they have a job.
Dear Jose :
I am pleased by your post “Bring Back DACA!,” because DACA is a great opportunity for the kids brought to America illegally. It sadnesses me that this opportunity was stripped away from students who wanted to reach a higher level of education and pursue a career. I believe that those students who missed the chance to receive a DACA scholarship could have done amazing things for our country.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “I believe that it helps many students out and offers them a lot of protection” I think this is true because DACA was established to protect qualifying young adults who were brought to the United States as minors from deportation and to provide them with temporary, renewable work authorization.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I believe DACA was a great opportunity for those who need extra support from others to make their dreams come true. I’m glad you educated yourself on DACA and hopefully, they will bring back this great opportunity.
Sincerely, Sara Torres
