Dear Future President of the United States

An important issue that I care about is Black Lives Matter. This is a major issue in our country. I believe this because cops shouldn’t think that someone is doing something bad and shoot people just because they are Black.

In the United States today, there are still a lot of racist people who are possibly killing Black people. Our country needs a world without racism because Black people are humans just like everyone else.

We need a president who will be a leader and will do what they and everyone else thinks is right. When you are president, please don’t encourage racism, and this is to anyone that becomes president of the United States. If you are a good president and will do what is right, then everyone will respect you because you are doing right things.

We all hope that you will try and stop racism. I hope that Hillary Clinton is the next president and that she will try to stop racism.

Sincerely,

   Angel

This is good. America still has trouble with racism even to this day. We need more people like you to stand up for this issue, because if people don’t speak up, there really can be no change. I do believe there will be a day when racism will stop and people will just say that they’re simply tired of it, but that doesn’t mean people should stop fighting for racial justice. The fight for racial justice is a very positive sign in our country that we hold the value of equality, the most important value of all. I believe police should be surveyed for racists behavior, and if they are charged with it, they should be fired. We should do everything politically and socially possible to stop racial injustice against African American people.

Dear Angel,

I am surprised by your post, “Black Lives Do Matter!”, because it’s true everyone should be treated the same. You can’t be hating on someone just because they are black and we do need a president that should be able to lead us to stop racism and knows that black people are humans to just like everyone else. There is still a lot of racist people today in the United States who are possibly killing blacks. One sentence that stands out for me is, “I believe cops shouldn’t think that someone is doing something bad and shoot people just because they are black”. This stood out because police officers are pulling over more blacks than whites for any reason.

Sincerely, Adan

I agree with you angel. I feel like racism needs to stop everywhere in the world. A Lot of black people have been getting killed because of racist cops and racist people. I think all people should be treated equally and nobody should be discriminated. The only way people will stop being racist is if we start doing something about it. Also if the next president of the United States of America does something about this. The president can use his voice to inspire lots of people to stop being racist and too get along with each other. Thank you Angel for sharing your opinion.

I completely agree with you. This problem has gotten out of hand. I do think on the other hand, this issue of racism is so prevalent because we feel the need to talk about it. We have a black history month but we don’t have a white history month. Is this a bigger problem than it already is because we keep talking about it? Just a thought

Dear Angel, I agree with your post that black lives matter and this is getting out of hand. Everyone should be treated equal and especially agree with your statement “when you are president, don’t encourage racism.” This is something we definitely need from our commander and chief and they need to show everyone that everyone is equal no matter the color of their skin. Great post.

Dear Angel,
What I believe you should write about is that “All Lives Matter”. I understand that black lives matter, of course they do but Hispanic, White, Asian lives matter as well. If you want to argue that police especially white police are killing African Americans more than any other race I strongly disagree with that. Studies showed in 2015 that 662 white and Hispanic people were shot. While 258 black people were shot in that same year. Most of the “unfair” shootings involving black people were caused by the officer being attacked by the victim with a gun. Hispanics and whites have three times more deaths by officers than black people do. In 2014, 6,095 deaths involving black civilians were recorded. There were 5,397 recorded white and Hispanic deaths in that same year. I know this makes the “Black Lives Matter” campaign seem reasonable but almost all of the homicides committed was the act of black on black violence. Most people say that black people are killed by racist white cops what they don’t know is that black and Hispanic cops are most likely to shoot an African American due to the mistaken belief that the civilians are armed. I feel that we can’t really blame most officer who accidentally shoot black people due to the fact that cops are killed 2.5 times more by black people than any other race and it’s not the other way around. Most people supporting the “Black Lives Matter” campaign aren’t aware that over the past decade according to the FBI 40% of cop killers are black. I am not saying that all cops are not at fault in the act of wrongly shooting and innocent African American, sure there are definitely racist crooked cops out there but the majority of cops are not racist and only trying to do their duty as the police. The problem with racism I’m my opinion can not be resolved as long as people have the right to think as they wish and think it freely. So again, black live matter, definitely but so do all other races. The campaign I think should be in action is “All Lives Matter” and we should all come together and fight for justice for ALL civilians wrongly shot by police officers.

I agree with you, and I think anyone leading our country must be compassionate and willing to fight for all our citizens, not just White people. Your post brings up the issue of implicit bias in general, which is when we have subconscious biases against others, usually based on physical appearance. This also relates to how we treat Muslims, which is another important issue the president must address.

I agree with you angel. Cops should not shoot or arrest someone just because they are black. This needs to stop because this isn’t fair for black people. When cops shoot or arrest someone for now reason is called racism. It’s crazy how racism is still going on after many years that this is going on. Also angel you are very very right, we need a president who will stand against that. As you say we need a good president so they can stop this because has gone on for to long. I hope you continue posting more because so far you are doing a great job.

I agree with Angel, but I believe that if we want racism to stop it should be “All Lives Matter” To signify that we are one family. Not one race is more important than another. I do agree with the fact that cops need to be re-trained. What ever happened to not shooting unless shot upon. They are protecting themselves not the people. I do not think an candidate will resolve this situation they are too worried about their image.

I agree with your statement that Black Lives Do Matter, being black female myself. But I also think that all lives matter, but I think people fail to realize that when that statement is said we are saying that black lives matter more, which is not true. It is just right now in our world black lives are being impacted more than others. It is true that the next president needs to step up and stop saying what they are going to do to help and actually act on it. It is too often a black male is seen in the media and they happen to be shot down. There is already black on black crime going on, police officers don’t need to join in as well as others that can’t see themselves living in a world where blacks are apart of society as equal.

Dear Angel-
I completely agree with this! I think that all lies matter and everyone should be treated with the same about of respect. Our country does need a strong leader to help solve this issue because it is a serious problem we face in our society. This is a very important topic and I’m glad you decided to focus on it. Great post!

Dear Angel,
I agree with you because I think that African American’s should not be shot and possibly killed just for being black. One important sentence you said that really stuck out to me was the sentence where you said: “… please don’t encourage racism…,” I think that the president shouldn’t and I am glad that you said what you said. I am very happy that you too decided to write about racism and black lives matter. I really like how you wrote your letter and how you chose very great words for your letter.
P.S I hope Hillary Clinton wins as well. She will most likely not support these intolerable actions that police are doing.

Dear Angel, your post is really encouraging, and I agree that cops, and other people should stop killing blacks. One sentence you wrote that stuck out to me is when you said “Our country needs a world without racism because black people are humans like everyone else.” This stands out to me because blacks don’t have a lot of freedom in some parts of the world. In my letter to the president I said I fear my family members could be the next victim. Good job for sharing your writing with I look forward to your next essay, because you had a lot of good writing other people should see! Good job.
