National Geographic’s article, “Overtourism is stressing our national parks. Here’s how visitors can help” seeks to provide more insight into how both tourists and the National Parks Service can provide relief to parks’ overcrowding due to tourism. While Starr highlights what the National Parks Service has done so far, it is also mentioned that tourists can help alleviate this issue just as much. One such park where this takes place is Indiana Dunes National Park. They will give out reusable water bottles to visitors that take plastic bags to pick up trash and litter around the park. This is one solution I hadn’t thought of in order to help keep National Parks clean; however, it doesn’t address the root of the problem.
