In the article “Are Driverless Cars A Good Idea” Amitai Bin-Nun supports the idea of driverless cars being a good idea while Ashley Nunes argues against it. Bin-Nun claims that driverless cars will help the environment by reducing road congestion, driving more efficiently, and reducing emissions. Driverless cars can help people who are disabled and older people who can’t drive safely. It can also help others who do not know how to drive. Bin-Nun claims that it can make the roads safer since, in 2018, more than 36,500 people have died. Nunes disagrees with the idea of driverless cars because machines are not perfect and they have flaws. They can make mistakes like humans. She wrote about how a 40-year-old man was killed by a driverless car when his car ran into a truck. She believes that we shouldn’t trust our cars to drive by themselves over our lives.
I think it can be nice having a driverless car because I know many situations when people drive back home late at night and they get sleepy which they can sleep behind the wheel. It can make the roads safer and avoid accidents. But I also do realize that machines are imperfect and we shouldn’t rely on them to have control. If they do make cars that are safe and make no mistakes then I would think that driverless cars are a good idea. Do you think that driverless cars are a good idea?
Hey Cynthia, I see ways that driverless cars can help people. I do agree that many people late at night get sleepy and driverless cars can help. It can also help drunk drivers get home safer without them driving. I can see the flaws on having driverless cars, teachnology does not always turn out to be perfect. Having driverless cars can go both way, it can save life and/or take lives.
Dear Cynthia,
I agree with your post on “Are Driverless Cars A Good Idea?” Driverless vehicles will surely be great to have in our society, they would certainly boost in certain ways. But it may still be a terrible idea. We never know how machines would behave, or when they might break or crash. It’s to say I stick to the positive better than the bad. I assume that driverless cars will save lives and avoid less, in my view.

Dear Cynthia,
I agree with your post on this topic. Driverless vehicles will surely be great to have, they would certainly boost in certain ways. But it may still be a terrible idea, on the other hand. We never know how machines would behave, or when they might break or crash. It’s to say I stick to the positive better than the bad. I assume that driverless cars will save lives and avoid less, in my view.

Cynthia, I agree with your view on this topic. Driverless cars would definitely be nice to have, they can for sure help people in many ways. But on the other end it could also be a bad idea. We never know how machines are gonna act or when they could break or malfunction. It’s to say with side I like more the good or the bad. In my opinion I think driverless cars could save lives and prevent less crashes, but at any moment something could go wrong.
I think this is an interesting post and topic, as technological advancement continues to change the world and offer numerous possibilities. I think that both Bin-Nun and Nunes make good points, and that there are many pros and cons of driverless cars. Driverless cars would make driving safer by reducing the amount of accidents, since human error causes a very large percentage of accidents. The downsides, as you said, are that machines such as driverless cars can still make mistakes, and people would be trusting cars with their lives and have no control nor the ability to override. In general, I think that driverless cars are a good idea, as long as they’re very safe and always function properly.
Hey Cynthia you have a really interesting post here. I understand the fear to not trust robots because they make mistakes, but humans make more mistakes, and take longer to respond situations. Also with time and development robots will get better. I feel it’s also important to point out that airplanes are almost always controlled by auto pilot. Also when you mentioned the self driving car crashing into a truck, that more commonly happens with humans behind the wheel, usually because they are distracted. I really liked your post and I’m excited to see the next post you make.
Cynthia, your post really caught my attention. I like that you are writing about something driverless cars because I am interested in the kind of topics. I agree with you if we can have a driverless car when we are tired. This actually makes driving a lot less risky. I can understand why Nunes doesn’t like driverless cars. Because we in the field of artificial intelligence has not a lot of practical applications in our lives. Thank you for sharing that information with me, Cynthia.
