In the article it proves how one actor can make a difference. Troy Kotsur is the second deaf actor to receive an Oscar for acting. He wanted to prove that anyone can be anything disregarding the challenges they face. He wanted to inspire future deaf actors and actresses in the future. In a movie he starred in, it’s on an entire family who is deaf… except for one daughter. What he likes about this movie is that the family is not portrayed as limited or as victims. He likes that it shows the family just like any other hearing family.

Do you like what they are doing with this method?

In my opinion, I find it amazing that he was given that opportunity. Taking into consideration how many people with disabilities are “limited” they’re opportunities. I like the fact that they are showing how people with disabilities are not any less or different than people who don’t have any.

I am intrigued by your post, “Actor Makes History at Oscars,” because it goes to show that anybody can do anything even when they are held back by whatever obstacles are in their way. Some doubt those who want to become what they inspire to be because of an illness or disability they have, but your post shows a certainty about how even with doubts and obstacles holding them back anybody can become something great.

One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: Troy Kotsur is the second deaf actor to receive an Oscar for acting.” I think this is convincing because there was already someone before “Troy Kotsur” that had won an oscar and was also deaf. Reading that he was only the second deaf oscar to win an oscar, should inspire others to work hard to achieve many more Oscars or become someone that others can look up to.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I really liked how you post about certain topics and the examples you use, because there are things that most people wouldn’t really think are a big deal, without knowing that they can really inspire people.

Hello Sophia

I am moved by your post, “Actor Makes History at Oscars” because I think it is very inspiring and amazing what Kotsur has accomplished despite the limitations many of us could not imagine overcoming. This is a great message to anyone who has goals but is doubting themselves because anything is possible when you dedicate yourself.

I loved when you said, “I like the fact that they are showing how people with disabilities are not any less or different than people who don’t have any” because you are absolutely right. Underrepresentation in the media is very real for many different groups so including them more would help get rid of stigma and discrimination.

Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing more of what you write about because your posts are very delightful and your perspectives are very interesting!

Dear Sophia

I am intrigued by your post, “Actor Makes History at Oscars” because it shows people that even if you have a disability or your suffering from an illness, you can overcome those struggles and make a difference in your life and others.

Once sentence you wrote that stands out for me is, “Troy Kotsur is the second deaf actor to receive an Oscar for acting.” This stood out to me as significant and also made me wonder who the first deaf actor to receive an Oscar is.

Thank you for your writing. I look forward to reading posts from you because I like the way you can make things interesting.

Dear Sophia :
I am amazed by your post, “Actor makes history at oscars,” because the actor that won the oscar is the second deaf person to ever win an oscar.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “What he likes about this movie is that the family is not portrayed as limited or as victims” I think this is important because it shows how the actor did not want to make his family seem as a victim.
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because I liked how you wrote about the oscars.
