In the article “Abortion in U.S. History.” (sample 2022), I learned that women had freedom of their bodies until men wanted to take power over females in every way even if that meant that they would make abortion illegal. In the article, it explains that abortion was legal until men saw that this gave women a choice about their bodies. This demonstrates that men wanted to rule over women even if the pregnancy could die because of it. It also says that women sometimes had to have secret abortions because they didnt want to have another kid. Black women were forced to have babies no matter what they wanted. This shows us that they never thought about how women might feel about their pregnancy but Men always wanted more power such as having more slaves by impregnating black women. This would also mean that many times black women were raped.
I think that it’s unfair for many women to be forced to have a kid they didn’t wish to have. I also think that it’s interesting that other women used to do the procedures until men wanted control over females again. This helps me answer my question about how abortion was in the past.
I still wonder what pro-life people’s argument is. I wonder this since I have only done research based on pro-choice.
