In the Article, ”State Abortion Bans Will Harm Women and Families’ Economic Security Across the U.S.” (Hoffman, Ahmed, and Salas-Betsch 2022a) I learned that the most common reason for an abortion is because they aren’t financially stable enough to take care of and raise that child. It was pointed out that women who live in states with abortion bans usually face more difficulties when it comes to reproductive health. More specifically, Abortion bans can lead to many risks. they can usually lead to more deaths and more seekage of unsafe abortion which would eventually come with life-threatening complications.
Within this source, there was a great amount of information that stood out to me, but what really stood out to me was that this article stated that any sort of abortion ban means insufficient protection and support for women. It saddens me to know that most women who don’t have access to any sort of abortion care are struggling financially. This statement really stood out to me because it just made more sense. More specifically it points out the obvious. I also found it interesting how they explained how any type of ban against abortion is really just showing no care about helping women who are obviously in need.
As I continue to learn about abortion, I hope to find out why this decision should be determined by others.
