Throughout our history, healthcare has mainly benefited those who are white and privileged. The foundations of healthcare are built against African Americans, and this article describes that. It started with slavery, and scientists justified it by saying the shape of African Americans’ skulls made them more submissive. They excused infecting African American men with syphilis because it was for the greater good. Black men and women are 1.9 more times likely to die from covid, and throughout history, they have been treated like less than white people. This is inexcusable, and this article briefly describes the history of racism in the medical field.
