Being a person of color is harder than you may think. Especially when it comes to the crimes that are committed. In my research, I wanted to know why people of color get harder criminal sentencing than people not of color. What I found is that it is because of racism. According to Racism, The situation for black people has gotten worse. Even Hillary Clinton said that African Americans are most likely to be arrested by police and sentenced to longer prison terms for doing the same thing whites do and that is true. If you compare what a white person is going to be sentenced to and what a black person is going to be sentenced to, the chances are that the colored person is going to be sentenced harder. Also according to Racism, This year’s update continues to show between 12% and 25% of blacks reporting they have been treated unfairly in their dealings with police, while they are at work, while shopping or in other situations. Thus, while the problem of racism may be receiving greater or at least renewed attention. That is what my question is all about, I want to understand why this society is what it is.

I am intrigued by your post because racism has now become one of the world’s biggest problems. We may think that all that racism was left being during Martin Luther King days, but no racism has always and will always exist. Most racist people just hid their hatred deep down in them but now that we have someone as our president who promotes hate and racism these people will not detain themselves from expressing how they really feel toward different races.
One thing you said that stands out for me was “ The situation for black people has gotten worse. Even Hillary Clinton said that African Americans are most likely to be arrested by police and sentenced to longer prison terms for doing the same thing whites do and that is true.” This stands out to me because these people like us hispanics are not here to hurt anyone. All they want is better jobs and the opportunity for their children to get educated. Some black people do little things that cost them years in prison, when white people are able to do and undo whatever they please at little to no criminal cost?. Your post reminds me of what is happening now with the hispanic population. Illegal immigrants are being separated from their families when all they want is a stable life.
