In the article “Effects of Gun VIolence on Mental Health” by HelpGuide.org I learned that people who have been surrounded with gun violence or have experienced gun violence can be left with many physical and mental problems. Many people can be left with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Survivor’s guilt and more. Many of these people can go to certain programs to help them with their mental issues. Some of those who have been targeted can be left with a lot of these mental issues as well as having physical problems. If you yourself or anyone that has experienced gun violence can do many things to deal with physical and mental issues. A few of the things you can do to deal with them is by empowering yourself, connecting with others, being active, managing stress, and getting enough sleep.
I think we as a whole should take notice of those who are surrounded by gun violence and give a hand to help and provide support for them.I think something else we should acknowledge is gun violence as a whole and execute things such as background checks before being able to sell weapons to the public. Overall I think we need to do a lot to help those people who have experienced gun violence and find ways to prevent gun violence from expanding.
As I continue to learn about gun violence and the effects it has on people I want to know more about what the government is doing to help people fighting through gun violence and things they’re doing to prevent gun violence.
