The billboard sign displays a subliminal  message/ joke addressing “ TEXT AND DRIVE …..WATHAN funeral home “ which means you’re leading yourself to death and straight to a funeral home if you text and drive . Some people may have emails to take care of and important messages , sometimes it’s just a friend , nothing can be that important that it can’t wait until you stop driving . texting and driving can be very dangerous because that’s how accidents happen leading to you getting in an accident either dying or getting an injury or worse killing someone anyone , it can be a kid crossing the street on their way to school . My position stands with , It’s better not to text and drive and hold on to the message till you get to your destination or if it cant wait simply pull over and take care of it but don’t text and drive .

Hey Mariely, the topic you chose is so very important in todays society. Technology has advanced so much in the past decade and it has honestly just become more of a distraction. Cars are now compatible with phones which is another distraction added to the list. My point is that no matter what you drive or how long you’ve driven you are always putting your life at big risks while texting and driving. Here is a link to a similar topic. https://www.edgarsnyder.com/car-accident/cause-of-accident/cell-phone/cell-phone-statistics.html

    Dear Mareily,
I agree with everything you mentioned in this article. Texting and driving is very dangerous, especially at this day and age. The technological advancements are definitely positive but also lead to problem like these. Apple and big corporations should put a better feature rather than just do not disturb mode. This will prevent accidents related to distracted driving.

    Dear Mariely,
I found your post very informative and interesting. It is a very relevant topic for people today and most kids can relate to this because they find themselves looking at their phones while driving more often than not. I agree that texting and driving causes most accidents and leads to death, which makes texting and driving of little importance compared to your life. Showing adds and billboards like these are helpful, but how can we say they are making change when we continue to hear of accident and deaths due to texting and driving. We need to find more productive and effective ways to stop texting and driving. Here’s an article that I found that I think will give more insight on this topic. https://www.teendriversource.org/teen-crash-risks-prevention/distracted-driving/cell-phones

Mariely, I really like this post. I feel like texting and driving is one of the most dangerous things out there. No one can multitask, even if they think that they can. It is becoming a very life threatening thing that teens do just to respond to their friends. No text is worth dying over. I found a great website that can help you further your research. https://www.teendriversource.org/teen-crash-risks-prevention/distracted-driving/cell-phones This website shows the different ways we can refrain from our phones while driving such as texting someone back before you start to drive and check in with parents to show that you are safe when you get to a destination. Being safe is way better than being sorry.

    Dear Mareily,
I completely agree with this article, because texting and driving is very dangerous and is one of the leading causes of car accidents. It takes your eyes off of the wheel and can cause people to crash much easier. I agree that it needs to stop and that people should put their phones on do not disturb when they drive them help prevent this.

    Sincerely,
    Emily Malouf

I found this article interesting as I didn’t realize how there are new billboards that make a joke about texting and driving. I agree that texting and driving is certainly bad, and can put your life and others in danger. I especially agree with the quote “It’s better not to text and drive and hold on to the message till you get to your destination or if it cant wait simply pull over and take care of it but don’t text and drive”. People shouldn’t feel the need to be on their phones while they drive. My question is whether you think these billboards and other ads about texting and driving actually work? And how can we fix this issue. Although texting and driving has always seen as bad it has increased significantly, meaning we need a new strategy to decrease texting and driving. Here is another article showing how it has increased. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/texting-while-driving-up-50-percent-last-year/

I found this article interesting because prior to getting my license I never thought I would text and drive but as the years have gone by I have caught myself looking at my phone. One of the most dangerous things about texting and driving is that there’s know demographic. everyone does it, I catch my friends, and family on their pones behind the wheel more often then I would like. I think the idea of adding adds to help stop texting and driving is both a good ide and a bad idea however. adding road side adds can help raise awareness and bring attention to a serious issue. However how do we know that these adds that are supposed to help us aren’t just distracting us. there doing the same thing that the texts are doing and taking your eyes off the road. even if its just for a second when most people check there phone it’s only for a second so what’s the difference. so, do you feel we should post more road side adds to raise more awareness or limit them so they don’t distract people?
