My name is Angel Guerra. I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to the Bronx when I was only 2 months old so you can pretty much say I was born here. I am 18 years old and my birthday is on November 7. Something you should know about me is that I’m a very respectful guy but I can get my attitudes here and there. I’m not the best kid in the world. I’ve done stuff back in my time that I’m not really proud of but my motto has always been that you live and you learn. I started off my high school career horribly. I used to get into fights all the time in my old schools. I come from 3 high schools: the first high school I went to was Roosevelt, then I went to Grace Dodge Academy, and then to B.L.A. Now I’m here at PULSE High School trying to better myself and get the credits I need to graduate. I’ve lived around this area code my whole life pretty much.
There’s nothing really I like to do in school, to be honest. I used to like to play in gym class back in my old schools. One subject that I’m solid at in school is math. I’ve always been a math person since I was in elementary school. Another subject that I used to be decent at and kinda liked was my AP US History class I used to take in my old school. Some things I like to do when I’m outside of school are just chill with my friends and just stay home and work on my room (as in, decorate my room). I made myself this way and made myself good at what I do by paying attention and doing what I had to do. My grandfather taught me how to build stuff when I was about 12 or 13 years old and now I just build stuff like my radio sets in my room.
I am not in any gang. I have been told before to join a couple gangs back then but I always said no. I’ve hung around a lot of gang members in my life; like I said, I’ve done stuff that I’m not proud of and faced the consequences that came with it, as in, I got locked up, etc. One thing that happened to me when I was doing what I was doing was that I got stabbed when I was 14 years old. I was in the hospital for about 6 or 7 months. I came out of the hospital and went back to my regular routine. Then, a couple of years later, I just started to finally realize that the people I hung around with didn’t want what’s best for me so I separated myself. I still keep in contact with the people I grew up with but not how I used to. Now I’m just trying to do what’s best for me to graduate and get that high school diploma. I might not even make new friends in my new school. Ima just worry about myself.
