I am originally from Brooklyn,
where houses and apartments are near each other
There’s local stores are on every corner

I come from a Trinidadian mother
Who always tells me anytime I talk back,
“All yuh get it easy now and days.”
She sometimes she reminds me of my uncle
Because of the way she acts

I don’t come from a religious home
But my family and I do believe in God
We pray anytime we travel
Sometimes over food

I am from a house
Full of noise
And great memories;
Including some blues.
