It begins with just me,

alone, cold, pointless.

The nights were dark,

Then the sun rises.

I meet them.

Finally, I feel warm,

Time elapses and months pass,

memories and smiles blind me when I try to remember my sorrowful past…

and hope flashes vividly in my future.

The horizon looks bright,

for the first time in a long time.

My head rises and my eyes open.

For once I feel free,

For once I want to help,

For once I want to put myself out there for someone.

For once love introduces itself to me.

As time elapses, it becomes less and less about me

and more and more about others.

Months prior, I had hopes, dreams, and ambitions.

Now they are my hopes, my dreams, and my ambitions,

and everything else is forgotten like nothing ever existed before.
