The piece I have recorded is from the play Othello by William Shakespeare. The dialogue is 1.3.208-18, and it belongs to Desdemona. I chose this because I think Desdemona is a strong character for standing up to her father, and she does it well. She argues her point from both reason and emotion, as opposed to just emotion. In reciting this I gained more insight into what, were Desdemona really saying this, she would feel. Punctuation in Shakespeare is really important, because a missed comma or missed apostrophe can change the whole intonation and in some cases even meaning of the what’s being said.
