Broken but Together

Your touch used to light me up

Your voice used to bring me joy

Now even the thought of you brings me to tears

“This is a pre-paid call from ‘Sergio Rojas’ to accept this call please press 5.”

You will never understand the pain those words brought to me

You explained to me what had happened and apologized for the pain you have caused

But you will never understand how much I crave your touch

or how much I crave the sound of your voice

Because now even the thought of you brings me to tears

It’s been weeks and still no word about what had happened

Soon enough a few months turned into 10 years

Frustrated and confused

I didn’t know what to do

All that I was left with was the pain you caused

The tears coming down my face

I crave your touch

I crave the sound of your voice

But now even the thought of you brings me to tears

“I’m sorry,” you said.

“It won’t happen again,” you said.

Little did we know this wasn’t the last

You lied to me even after you said you wouldn’t

You hurt me even after you said you wouldn’t

I can’t even look at you the same

What I can see is the fear in your eyes

The fear of losing someone you love and care for deeply

I thought I was able to forgive you

I thought I was able to forget

I’ve come to realize that I can’t forget for I haven’t forgiven

You broke me

But I am not broken

You hurt me and for that I can’t forgive

I can’t forgive for you have lied to me

I can’t forgive for you have broken your promises

But, I continue to move forward because I am not broken

Yes, you hurt me and yes you lied to me but I am not broken

Because of you I push myself forward

To follow my dreams and to never give up

I moved on but I can’t forgive you

Because now even the thought of you brings me to tears
