midsummer

i am trying to sleep

in the hot summer night

the AC is on

but alas the heat still clings

to everything in the room

to me

the humidity is killing me

as though i were drowning in water

i open a window for some relief

maybe a lucky breeze

now i lay awake

the summer moon falling in the sky

i can’t sleep

not with the symphony of crickets

chirping strange free time songs into my ear

Thanks for all the feedback on the previous poem. I really appreciate it!
