I am waiting for two broken things to fix each other,

and I am waiting

for her to call my phone in the late hours,

I am waiting for her poems

to be read from the rooftops of buildings

with loudspeakers and silent applause,

and I am waiting

for her songs to be played

on every radio station

since her guitar skills are so divine,

and I am waiting

for her to feel understood,

to no longer feel broken,

and I am waiting

for her to fall for me

like she had before

because I missed my chance,

and I am waiting

for her everyday

to meet me in the park,

So we can mourn over lost love

with our wet eyes and freezing noses

and I am perpetually waiting

for her words of hatred and despise

to turn to love and compassion

and I will continue to wait forever.
