Where I’m From

I am from family albums

from instruments and sports

I am from a warm, comfort

and a house filled with memories

I am from a blooming rose

Yet, can be as sharp as a knife

I am from books and toys

from my brother and mother

I am from carrying others and hard working

and from taking care of my family

from doing chores and cooking

I am from a family without a religion

I am from my grandmother and grandfather

from rice and dumplings

from my uncle’s funeral

and from my grandfather’s 80th birthday party

Going on vacation every summer with my family

I am from those moments that made me the person that I am today, proud and confident.

From all the loves I had from my family

I became stronger and passionate

    Hi Hui!
I loved your poem. It was a really unique way of expressing who you are and what makes you the person you are today. This was very personal and touched on many aspects of your life without being over the top, which I really liked. I look forward to seeing what else you write.
