Why charge someone who has the future in their hand over $20,000 to attend college they are the ones who will run the country, fix your car, teach your grandkids and so much more. Every year 1.2 million students drop out of school. That’s 7,000 dropouts everyday, or 1 every 26 seconds. High school dropouts drain our society. They are 8x’s more likely to go to prison, more likely to need welfare, 50% less likely to vote, not eligible for 90% of new jobs, earn less than half as much as college grads.
High schools are not preparing students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel after graduation. Only 1 in 4 high school students graduate college-ready in the 4 core subjects of english, math, science, and social studies. 40% of all 17 year-olds dont have the math skills and 60% lack the reading skills to hold down a production job at a manufacturing company. 30% of americans have such an aversion to math problems that they’d rather clean a bathroom than solve one.
40.3% of U.S adults have a degree. The U.S ranks 12th among 36 industrialized countries for percentage of adults 25-34 years old with college degrees. 30 years ago america was the leader in quality of high school diplomas. Today, our nation is ranked 36th in world.
1.3 million high school students don’t graduate on time yearly. In workplace 85% of current jobs and 90% of new jobs require some or more college or post-secondary education.
We should reduce college tuition not saying it should be free, but reduce cost unless room and books and everything come with it. Everyone should have to pay a certain amount no matter their income.Tags: #expensive #idontthinkso #JalayahHumphrey #millions #nogo College future Money school
