Although our discussion may have been a flop, I still believe we got somewhere with the whole thing. It was a sensitive topic and it’s understandable that some people did not want to speak up in fear of being ridiculed by their peers, but even so, we did learn something from the discussion. Maybe not about racism but about the class. Some may still be getting warmed up the the strangers in the classroom. All together though, we learned that this is a place to speak our minds, because without that, there is no discussion. I’m hoping in the next discussion, everyone speaks their mind on the topic so we can have a great discussion.
