Superfoods offer health benefits that will prolong life and increase the quality of life. Certain foods, such as blueberries, kale, chia seeds, and tomatoes have antioxidants that fight off cancer cells and other diseases that lead to the death of many people. By learning and exploring the benefits of superfoods, we can encourage people to eat healthier and at the same time minimize their susceptibility to some diseases. This article from EBSCO describes the nature of Superfoods and how they differ from vegetables. It doesn’t go into detail about the specifics of which superfoods offer beneficial components, but rather focused on how they have evolved and how they are becoming more and more relevant. I thought this was very interesting because in order to understand something more, you have to understand its history and its purpose. This article was different from all the information that I have discovered, which gave me a different perspective.

Superfoods are unique because they are not only beneficial to you short-term health, but extremely beneficial to your long-term health. Many have enzymes and antioxidants that fight off certain cancer cells. They also are extremely helpful in slowing the process of dementia. It is proven that blueberries help fight off Alzheimer’s Disease and other mental illness that come along with age. They also also help to reverse depression, anxiety, and addiction. I wanted to know more about how they help physical health, but also the mental health.

    Hi Anna! This is a very interesting topic to me as I have recently started to try to eat healthier. I go to my local tropical smoothie place and have healthy smoothies with kale or spinach, and many different fruits I had never heard of. It is really interesting to me to learn about all the different health benefits that all the fruits and vegetables have. I personally have family members who had Cancer and Alzheimer’s, so if I could reduce my chances by simple having these super foods I would totally eat them everyday. Thanks for informing me on these super foods, it was very interesting to me and I hope to hear more about what you write.

    Dear Anna:

    I am intrigued by your post, “Why Superfoods are worth reading about” because it showed why superfoods were healthier than vegetables. Superfoods is a term that I never knew about before.

    One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is, “Certain foods, such as blueberries, kale, chia seeds, and tomatoes…” I think this is surprising because I have eaten some of this food before, and I never knew the benefits of these foods.

    Another sentence that I liked was, “…have antioxidants that fight off cancer cells and other diseases that lead to the death of many people.” This stood out for me because curing cancer has not yet been accomplished. This means that eating such foods can help prevent cancer.

    Your post reminds me of something that happened to me. One time I decided that I would start eating healthier. After a while I gave up. However, I didn’t know that I usually eat healthy superfoods on a daily basis.

    Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next, because surprisingly, reading about food is very interesting.
