I am a frequent gamer and I am always confronted with the argument that video games are bad for you in general. I have seen studies supporting this but I have also seen many studies showing that video games can actually be quite good for you, both in matters of physical health and mental health.
While prolonged sitting can actually be quite bad for you, video games have been proven to help with reaction timing, hand-eye coordination, and other reactions pertaining to hands and eyes. I have also recently come across a study that proved that video games are also really good for combating depression and reducing stress.
While prolonged gaming can be unhealthy, like too much of anything, there have been some studies that have shown that playing between 20 and 30 hours of video games a week can actually fight depression (although this self-medication can sometimes be dangerous, it is most often pretty safe and healthy).
I personally believe that video games are more healthy than unhealthy but I also believe that too much gaming is also bad for your health. I can attest to the fact that video games reduce stress and combat depression because it has worked for me but there is still testing to be done and more people to test on.
