I am from the battery in my controllers
I am from the flames from my stove
I am also from the petal from the
orchid flower out of the pot
I am from the town called josh
and all the other j’s
I’m from the always, always right
and they do whatever they want
From cool down and chill out!
In my living room is a book
filled with family photos
the bad and good times
even the crazy times
I am from the big happy tree
that fall’s down
every year to keep them green

    Dear Josh:

One part of your poem that stands out for me is where you say you are a tree that keeps falling down and then grows again. I think this is nice because you are describing your live in a poem.

It took me a few reads to understand it but once I got it you conveyed a good message. I didn’t notice the metaphoric usage of the things that define you at first, but now I find it very interesting. Well done, is this in free verse format?
