I am from Colgate,
from Tide and Baking Soda.

I am from the hard wooden floor under
the silver bed where I spent my sad times.

I am from Tiger who
“meow” at me when  hungry.

I am from 55 inches “SHARP” T.V.
and Frosted Flakes.

From Ibrahim and Moustapha.

I from,“Appreciate what you freakin’ have”
and “You have to be a role model for your little brothers.”

I am from the Qu’ran and praying 5 times a day.

I am from Guinea a country of different Africans.

From my brother who got surgery on his leg, to
the car accident my older siblings got into.

In my closet, a picture album of
familiar faces and unknown faces.

I am from a respected family that went through a lot
to be where they are now.
