I am from ghetto city Oakland

Where it’s a very diverse place

Where us Mexicans are a threat to America

I come home to eat beans and rice

And as a woman is expected to clean the house

And to be a good role model for my sister

I may not go out with friends

Because my parents are Hispanic

Can’t lie because my mom is like a stalker online

I come from a well-educated family

For others, I’m expected to drop out

All stereotypes fill my head

I ignore

But it hurts

I don’t let it get in my way

Because how many Latinas and people of color have proven them wrong
