I’m from the city of Oakland, California.
A city where your use of freedom of speech
can get you bullied, hurt, or even killed.
I’m from Oakland, where extreme liberalism is literally
Everywhere, and anyone who isn’t one
Isn’t an Oaklander. Kind of makes you ashamed
to be one.
I’m from Oakland, California, where people
you have the right to be entitled to your opinion
Unless you’re different. Otherwise, you’re labeled as
deplorable. When you disagree, you’re automatically labeled as a bigot,
or racist, or sexist, just because their point of view is different.
I’m different, I’m not the same.
I’m me, in Oakland, California.

Sermon, I thought that your poem was very inspiring because you described a lot of things in your life that are not easy to talk about. I really appreciate you writing this because you are letting people who do not experience things like you do everyday experience it through writing. Keep writing because you are very good!

    Dear Semon,
This poem is very moving. I really like raw poetry and this is exactly what it is. Love it.
